The Banque centrale du Luxembourg (BCL), member of the Eurosystem, is currently seeking to recruit a(n):

ECONOMIST – STATISTICIAN / EXTERNAL STATISTICS (m/f/d) - career A1

Full time - (ref. 10/ST21/2026)

Your mission:

Within the External Statistics, Financial Accounts and Public Finance section, you compile and analyse Luxembourg’s Balance of Payments / International Investment Position data.

Your responsibilities:
  • You integrate survey data from financial institutions and external data into Luxembourg’s external statistics.
  • You perform data quality checks on the collected data and monitor the quality of the statistical production process.
  • You consolidate data from multiple sources.
  • You make sure Luxembourgish statistics follow BPM standards.
  • You work in close collaboration with other units at the Statistics Department and STATEC.
  • You ensure regular contact with the ECB and participate in the work carried out in the various international fora dealing with b.o.p./i.i.p..
  • You occasionally ensure the drafting of ad-hoc studies and publications for external (bulletins, press releases) and internal (briefing notes) users.
Your profile:
  • You have a Master’s degree in economics, finance or statistics ;
  • You have a professional experience in compiling macroeconomic statistics ;
  • You demonstrate the following skills :
    • Strong understanding of statistical standards : SNA, BPM, etc. ;
    • Strong understanding of accounting standards : IFRS, Lux GAAP, US GAAP, etc. ;
    • Proficient in the use of common office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) ;
    • Good knowledge of statistical software, the knowledge of SAS software is an advantage ;
    • Fluent in French and English, the knowledge of German and Luxembourgish is an asset ;
    • Excellent drafting skills ;
    • Sense of organization and ability to work in a team and independently.
